Aisan Industry Co., Ltd. conducted a flight and power supply demonstration experiment of a hybrid drone equipped with an engine generator and a storage battery on December 8, 2021 as part of an initiative with the Toyota City Connected Social Demonstration Promotion Council. In the event of a disaster, a drone equipped with a generator will be flown from an area without power outages to an isolated village and used for power supply in the isolated village. According to the company, this is the first demonstration experiment in Japan of power supply using a drone in an area where a disaster is expected to occur.
Hybrid drone aircraft flight imageIn the demonstration experiment, the Inabu area, which is considered to have a high possibility of isolation, was selected in the "Toyota City Earthquake Damage Prediction Results Report". With the cooperation of local officials, we conducted a drone flight from a remote location and verified whether it was possible to supply power to home appliances from the on-board generator.
On the day of the event, he flew about 2km above the Nakura River for about 15 minutes to supply power to home appliances such as chargers, pots, water pumps, lights, and electric fans that were needed immediately after the disaster. According to the current specifications, it is calculated that it can supply electricity for one day used in evacuation shelters for about 10 people.
The entire area of Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, is designated as an area for strengthening earthquake disaster prevention measures, and when a disaster with a seismic intensity of 7 class such as the Nankai Trough earthquake occurs, it is expected that isolated settlements will occur in the mountainous areas of the city due to landslides. In many cases, power outages occur at the same time as an earthquake occurs, and power supply in isolated villages is one of the issues.
After takeoff, supply power to home appliances required at the time of initial flight disaster at a height of about 15 mmaximum speed | 15km / h |
