We will use the MIDI connection function to link the DTM app with Bluetooth and try to create original songs. [Setting procedure]➁Preparation is the same as for audio connection, but select "WU-BT10 MIDI" for the Bluetooth name to be paired. ➁This time, I tried typing an original song using the DTM app on my smartphone.

Songs played on the PX-S1100 are recorded in real time on the DTM app. When I checked it after typing, the strength and weakness of the sound and the change in tempo were faithfully reproduced. (Check out the video for the sound source of the original song!)

Also, this time I tried composing, but of course it is also possible to play MIDI data on hand and accompany it according to the sound.

Playing, composing, listening to music... The PX-S1100 can play many roles!

-How do you feel about using the electronic piano "PX-S1100"?

Mr. F: I was surprised to find that the feel of the keyboard is similar to that of a grand piano. The weight and recoil of pressing the keys, as well as the timbre, are all that of a grand piano. You can also use the audio connection to play a sample sound source, so I think it's also recommended for people who want to practice piano at home. Another attractive point is that you can play it day or night by connecting earphones or headphones.

--Is this the first time you've touched a Casio electronic piano or keyboard?

Mr. F: It's my first time. I had a strong image of Casio making watches, so I was surprised to learn that he also manufactures electronic pianos. I like it because it is more compact than I expected, and there are no difficult operations even though it has many functions. As for the design, the red color of the main body is very beautiful, and I wanted to put it in my room. In addition, it has a wide range of notes from high to low, and the tone is similar to that of a real grand piano, so it was easy to play. The sound quality of the speaker is also clear and I thought it was a realistic sound.

――This time, we asked them to try composing music using the MIDI connection function. Was there any difference compared to your usual work environment?

Mr. F: The PX-S1100 is convenient because it can produce a wide range of sounds at once. It has more keys than the MIDI keyboard I usually use for typing, so when I came up with a phrase, I could record it all at once without worrying about the range. The strength and weakness of the sound was also reflected on the DTM application, so the composition work seems to be progressing.

Also, using a MIDI keyboard takes time and effort to connect a cable to a computer, but the "PX-S1100" was easy to prepare because it was possible to connect with Bluetooth simply by attaching the "WU-BT10" adapter.

――How did you feel when you heard the sound recorded with the MIDI connection function?

Mr. F: While I think it's embarrassing to listen to my own performance again, I learned a lot from being able to look back objectively. The sound that I hear while playing and the sound that others hear are different, so it's hard to grasp the gap.

The PX-S1100 made it easy for me to listen back to my performances, so I realized a lot of things like, "I want to play this phrase better," or "I think the song would come together better if I changed it to a different sound." had.

――I would like to ask you a little about your performance experience. When did you start playing the piano?

Mr. F: I started taking piano lessons around the age of 4 and continued until the third year of junior high school. When I was in college, I was in charge of keyboards in the light music circle, but after becoming a member of society, the time to perform has decreased considerably. I also have a keyboard, but I feel that the keyboard is light and unsatisfactory.

-When did you start composing?

Mr. F: From around the third grade of elementary school. I put free DTM software on my computer and typed in songs that came to my mind. After that, I went on to study media at university, and had the opportunity to use a MIDI keyboard for composing in class. I found it very useful, so I bought one myself, and I still use a MIDI keyboard when composing as a hobby.

However, I bought a MIDI keyboard for composition, so it is not suitable for practicing piano. I have both a normal keyboard and a MIDI keyboard, so I'm a little worried about the space in the room being squeezed.

――In what situations would you like to use the PX-S1100?

Mr. F: In addition to practicing piano and composing music, I would like to use it if I have the opportunity to perform outside, such as at a wedding reception. It's relatively compact and easy to set up, so I think there are many situations where it can be used.

Also, if you connect audio with Bluetooth, you can play music stored in your smartphone or tablet and enjoy high-quality sound, so it seems to be useful for listening to music. I'd also like to listen to my favorite anime songs.

――Finally, please give a message to those who enjoy playing the piano at home.

Mr. F: I think the PX-S1100 is an electronic piano that allows you to experience music in ways that were previously difficult to do without a computer. A single PX-S1100 should be able to cover everything without having to buy separate equipment such as a piano, composition keyboard, and speakers.

If you feel that you want to create a song with DTM, but you don't know what equipment you need, you may want to consider using the PX-S1100. We want you to enjoy not only playing the piano but also composing music and listening to music.
