Kanagawa Prefecture conducted a demonstration experiment of an underwater drone that dives and finds damaged areas on the dam wall in order to use it to inspect dams in the prefecture, which have become a problem of aging. It is an underwater drone type dam survey robot that moves agilely like a living creature. The dam wall can be photographed by the on-board underwater camera, and damaged areas such as cracks and delamination can be found. It is expected to be useful for surveys in places that are dangerous for humans to dive. Kanagawa Prefecture is promoting a robot development project to solve problems that have a major impact on the lives of the residents of the prefecture, and the dam survey robot is part of that. This time, we made the previous robot even smaller and lighter, and verified whether it could move more smoothly and stably underwater.
