Tomoaki Matsuki, Group Manager, Drone Business Promotion, Business Development Department, KDDI Business Creation Headquarters, explained KDDI's "smart drone" using mobile communication.
Smart drones that use mobile lines for remote control and remote monitoring to fly out of sight are expected to play an active role in various fields such as delivery, inspection of infrastructure equipment, surveying, and agriculture.
KDDI is developing a smart drone flight management system, for example, detecting and correcting deviations in position information by GPS during flight, checking weather information, monitoring and changing flight routes, detecting and inspecting equipment for people. It can detect cracks and rust. By using this flight management system, video can be shared in real time from anywhere in the world.
This time, "Water-Air Combined Drone" will be added to KDDI's smart drone lineup, and verification will be promoted for practical use in the future.
