TOMPLA conducts drone coffee delivery service demonstration experiment-Drone Journal

TOMPLA collaborated with Niigata City and coffee chain stores to verify the introduction of coffee delivery services to general customers using drones on January 8, 2022 in Chuo Ward, Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture.

When providing the service, we also verified the consumer needs of drone delivery and the introduction of physical stores by delivering in conjunction with the actual operation in the coffee chain. The service will be provided on a regular basis and will be introduced to stores all over Japan.

In the verification, coffee was prepared at the store according to the order from the participants, and the drone was delivered on demand. The drone departed from the restaurant area of Mt. Shichiku, passed through Toriyanogata, landed in the park behind the Prefectural Natural Science Museum, and delivered the products to the participants.

With land delivery, it takes about 10 minutes to deliver the distance that takes more than 15 minutes from the order. Since drone delivery uses electricity, it also reduces CO2 emissions compared to gasoline. In terms of product quality, by providing services in collaboration with operations of the global chain, it is said that it has gained the necessary perspective for seamless cooperation.

Starting with the expansion of drone home delivery in Niigata prefecture, the company is preparing for the generalization of drone delivery services in Japan.
