開発知識ゼロのおっさんが『Microsoft Flight Simulator』でアートの島、「直島」を再現しようとしてみた話【コラム】【UPDATE】

"Microsoft Flight Simulator" (hereinafter "MSFS 2020") with abundant mods that reproduce various locations around the world. See related images The other day, a mod that reproduces the art island "Naoshima" that exists in Japan was released for free. A mod that reproduces "Naoshima", which many Japanese people may not know, was actually created by a Japanese living in New Zealand. The corona vortex, which is once again having a tremendous impact on the movement of people due to the spread of new species. In this article, we will send you an article about the reason for modding and the process, which was given by the founder of "Naoshima" modding. Hello Game * Spark readers. Suddenly, I currently live in New Zealand. In New Zealand, the border has been closed for about two years because of Corona, and after going abroad, I, a foreigner, cannot re-enter New Zealand where my wife is. As a result, I couldn't go back to Japan and travel to other countries anymore, so I always felt like traveling with "MSFS 2020". Especially recently, I often visit famous places in Japan. What kind of island is "Naoshima"? By the way, do you all know Japan's world-class art island, Naoshima? It was one of the islands where illegal dumping of industrial waste and smoke damage were a problem in the 90's, but after that, it took 30 years, led by Soichiro Fukutake, who is also the chairman of Benesse, and nowadays. It is a miracle island that has been revived as an "island of art". Art works are scattered all over the island, and you can enjoy the works of leading Japanese artists and architects such as Yayoi Kusama and Tadao Ando. It was washed away by a typhoon last fall, but Yayoi Kusama's yellow pumpkin is famous. The ferry terminal also has red pumpkins and cute chairs. With such objects on the beach, it is an island full of playfulness and artistic spirit. Naoshima is Condé Nast's "The next 7 WONDERS" with brands such as National Geographic's "The Cool list", New York Times' "52 plaese to GO" and WIRED. In the 2021 movie "No Time to Die", a building with the motif of the Chichu Art Museum on Naoshima will appear. The more you know, the more amazing the island is. I tried flying Naoshima with "Microsoft Flight Simulator", but ... the trigger was unexpected. As I mentioned earlier, I couldn't even return to Japan, so I missed the scenery of Naoshima and decided to fly to the same place with "MSFS2020". When I was in Japan, I was talking with his wife about going to Naoshima, but I couldn't go there after all, and I remember that it was left as it was, so it was an exciting departure. .. Departing from Kounan Airport, I could see Naoshima right away! !! !! I'm excited! !! Naoshima is a huge yellow and red pumpkin designed by Yayoi Kusama. Let's go see it now! !! First, head to the ferry terminal, which is the entrance to Naoshima! !! ...... There is no building. By the way, I will go to see the famous yellow pumpkin mentioned above. ...... Ghan. There is nothing here either. Then, what about the beautiful Chichu Art Museum and accommodations designed by Tadao Ando? The museum, which should be buried in the ground, is also appearing on the ground in a strange shape .... What is this? I flew around in such a condition, but unfortunately there was nothing like this, and eventually I became sad ... Of course, as players know, many of the MSFS 2020 landmarks are made up of AI-based automatic building generation. Even so, it was too sad that Naoshima, which represents Japan, would work like this, even though the important points such as Gunkanjima were well built. I don't know if Benesse Chairman Soichiro Fukutake and world architect Tadao Ando are doing "MSFS 2020", but I'm sure everyone in Naoshima, including the big names, will be sad to see this disaster. .. Above all, this tragedy that is completely different from my expectations is unforgivable ... That's why I decided to create Naoshima myself. MSFS 2020 allows users to create add-ons to change the landscape and arrange the terrain as they wish. Some of the famous ones are deploying aircraft carriers in the ocean to allow them to take off and land, and some even create giant creatures like Godzilla. This time, I decided to reach out to create an add-on to bring Naoshima back to the beautiful scenery I once saw. It was a study from the beginning, but the basic flow is to 3D model buildings and small items with Blender and convert it to MSFS2020 format to generate objects Deploy objects in MSFS2020 format on the map in development mode It's like arranging the terrain and vegetation to be done, and arranging tetrapods and embankments. I just studied by watching youtube. The recommended channel for studying that I have seen is GAO CHAN Flying Theston. If you want to make an add-on, please refer to it. I was confused by the first 3D modeling, but I will make it like this. One day I was making it for about two months, thinking that I might be able to go smoothly. Suddenly all the buildings and terrain that I had built up until now disappeared from the game ... I asked questions on overseas bulletin boards, which have a relatively large number of enthusiasts, and looked at various sites to find out the cause. I still don't understand why the data saved on the way can no longer be used. In any case, if I couldn't rewind, I couldn't move forward, and I couldn't compete with half-hearted knowledge, it would be completely dark in front of me. I asked GAO for help, so I contacted GAO, who is already introducing how to make it on the YouTube channel above, with the thought of sticking to the straw, and I talked about the circumstances. As a result, I was honored to cooperate with the creation and tried to clarify the cause. GAO is the administrator of this channel that I introduced earlier. I didn't know the exact cause until the end, but "The object I'm making is too complicated to be loaded into the game, or the build of one object fails and other objects are loaded in a chain reaction. It seems that it is no longer possible. " And in conclusion, "Let's remake it from scratch". It was a difficult decision, but from now on, I think it was the most correct choice. Since then, the creation of "MSFS 2020" as an add-on has been touched by GAO from me, and since then, development has progressed with terrifying accuracy and speed. And version 1 is complete! Unlike me, who made it by imitating what I saw, GAO is a black belt stepper who has been trained in 100 battles, so the object will be completed like a lie until now. And there was no curtain for me (really none), and version 1 was completed. Thank you GAO! !! This is entirely your achievement! !! Many monuments and buildings in Naoshima are reproduced in this add-on, and it is made so that you can not help feeling the spirit of GAO and the love of Naoshima. Many small items and artistic buildings are studded in the add-on, so please enjoy it as if you were traveling. I would like to introduce some of them. This is the famous Yayoi Kusama pumpkin. The real thing was blown away by a typhoon last year, so it is currently being repaired. Even the shiny texture is firmly made. And this is "Benesse Art Museum" designed by Tadao Ando. The accommodation facility and the museum are integrated, and you can experience the experience of sleeping in the museum. It is an on-parade of art that Japan is proud of, such as Yayoi Kusama and Tadao Ando. You can see a small monument even from a distance. Since it is reproduced firmly, we recommend that you approach it with a drone etc. and take a closer look. When approaching the Benesse Art Museum, you will find such an object near the entrance. There are many others! And Naoshima's proud public bath, "I LOVE Yu". In the actual public bath, you can see the elephant's objects while taking a bath. It's like seeing the Naoshima ferry terminal from a distance. The object in the foreground can be climbed by a person inside in the real thing. The ferry in the back and each chair in the square are reproduced by hand. Let's get excited! !! There are many other buildings and objects in this add-on that cannot be introduced here, so please download and enjoy them. In the future, we plan to make further updates to gradually reproduce the more realistic and lively Naoshima (although I don't think there will be many curtains). I'm looking forward to it! You can download it from here (you can download it from either) GAO CHAN Flightsim.to It was an add-on creation that started with an idea, but when I tried it step by step, it said that "it can be done moderately even for the first time" and it is strong even if it gets stuck. I knew that if I had the will (and continued to ask for help), there would be someone who would take over that will. Although it is difficult, we recommend that you try creating user content that is both rewarding and fulfilling, and if you are interested in it, not just "MSFS 2020". * UPDATE (2022/1/30 22:50): The description about Naoshima has been partially revised. Thank you for pointing out in the comments.
